Yoonu Jàngale terms of use: the directory of Oustaz and Imams

This text applies to the Yoonu Jàngale app, intended for Guides and Teachers (Oustaz and Imams) and downloaded from the yoonujamm.app website. The Yoonu Jamm app, for worshippers' daily practice, has its own texts (yoonujamm.app/terms).

In short

1. Purpose

These terms govern the directory of Oustaz and Imams in the Yoonu Jàngale app and, when messaging is open in the app, its messaging. The rest of the app, which serves religious practice (prayer times, adhan, Qur'an, hadiths, Qibla, tasbih, calendar), is used without an account and is not concerned.

The directory is published by Nicolas Geslain, a private individual acting in a non-professional capacity. Using it is at no cost for worshippers; having an Oustaz or Imam profile is paid (section 14 bis). Use of the app itself is governed by the end-user licence agreement (yoonujamm.app/jangale/eula), which these terms supplement for the directory.

2. Access to the directory

3. What the directory gives you

3a. Rating an Oustaz

1. After an exchange accepted in the app, you can rate an Oustaz from 1 to 5 hearts. Your review is personal and sincere. You can change or remove it. 2. With 1, 2 or 3 hearts, you write why and you give a phone number, and your email address if you wish. The Oustaz reads your message without your name or your contact details, and can reply once. None of this is published. 3. Write true facts, without insults and without names. A serious matter (a child in danger, a threat, a false identity) is reported with "Report this profile", never in a review. 4. It is forbidden to buy, sell or reward a review, to put pressure on someone to get one and to rate from several accounts. Such reviews are removed and the accounts involved may be closed. 5. An abusive or untrue review can be removed. The number used is then refused for new reviews for 12 months. An untrue message that harms the Oustaz may engage your liability. 6. The rating and the Golden Heart are computed automatically, once a week, from the reviews. They are not a guarantee from the team on the teaching or on the person.

4. Role of the publisher: a technical intermediary

The directory puts people in touch, at no cost to worshippers. The publisher hosts and displays the profiles that Oustaz and Imams write themselves, and, when messaging is open in the app, carries messages without reading them, unless they are reported or held back by the filter (section 10). It neither selects nor employs the teachers, does not pay them, and is not a party to any agreement between them and you. It guarantees neither their qualifications, nor their teaching, nor their behaviour, nor the course of a lesson or a meeting. It acts promptly to remove clearly unlawful content reported to it.

5. Checking of Oustaz and Imams

Before making a profile visible, the Yoonu Jàngale team checks the Oustaz or Imam: identity confirmed, adulthood confirmed and, depending on the case, identity document, photo and recommendation from a mosque or an Oustaz already listed. The team carries out these checks with care, but with no guaranteed result: a forged document, false information or a change in behaviour may escape it. A visible profile is neither a recommendation, nor a certificate of good character, nor an endorsement by the publisher, and the check guarantees neither the person's qualifications nor the content of their teachings.

6. No religious opinion from the publisher

The publisher gives no religious opinion and takes no side for any school or brotherhood. The teachings, answers and opinions given by an Oustaz or an Imam, in the directory, by message, by phone or in person, are theirs alone. Their presence in the directory is neither a recommendation nor an endorsement by the publisher.

7. Declarations on your honour

The directory relies on your declarations, which the publisher cannot always check: age, being a parent or legal guardian, identity and nickname; for an Oustaz or an Imam, the information on their profile (name, number, languages, specialities, mosque, position).

8. Messaging

9. Rules of conduct

In the directory and in messaging, you undertake to remain courteous and to respect other users, Oustaz and Imams, whatever their opinions.

It is forbidden:

For your safety, never send money or a code received by SMS to a person met through the directory, and prefer a public place, such as a mosque, for a first meeting.

10. Filter, reporting and blocking

11. Moderation, suspension and removal

The team reviews each report promptly. It only reads the content of a conversation when it is reported. Depending on the seriousness, it may:

A false declaration, a serious breach of these terms or of the charter, or a risk to the safety of a person, in particular a child, may lead to these measures without notice.

A new account that opens an abnormal number of profiles on its first day, or an account reported by two different Oustaz, is suspended automatically pending the team's review. If you think a decision is unjustified, write to [email protected]: it will be reviewed again.

A review reported by an Oustaz is read by the administrator only, never by the relay moderator.

In the event of unlawful content or danger to a person, the publisher may keep the necessary elements and pass them on to the competent authorities when the law requires it.

12. Parental code

A parent or guardian may set a 6-digit parental code on their phone. It locks search, messages and My account; the rest of the app stays open. The code is kept only on the phone, as a hash: the publisher can neither read it nor give it back. If it is forgotten, the lock is removed 72 hours after a request made in the app. The parental code is an aid: it replaces neither the parent's presence nor the phone's own parental controls, and the parent remains responsible for keeping the code secret.

13. Liability

The publisher is a private individual who publishes the app in a non-professional capacity. He strives to keep the directory accurate and safe, but guarantees neither the availability of the service, nor the accuracy of each profile, nor the behaviour of the people you contact. Exchanges, calls and meetings take place under your responsibility and that of the people concerned.

To the fullest extent allowed by the applicable law, in particular the Senegalese Code of Civil and Commercial Obligations, the publisher is only liable for direct and foreseeable damage caused by its own proven fault. Unless it is at fault, it is not liable for damage caused by an Oustaz, an Imam or another user, nor for damage resulting from a false declaration or from a child's use of the phone. These limits do not apply in case of gross or intentional fault, nor to bodily injury, nor to the rights that the law of your country of residence grants you and that no contract may override.

14. Liability clause for Oustaz and Imams

Before the publication charter, each Oustaz and each Imam accepts the following clause in the app; its version and the date of acceptance are kept:

14 bis. Guides and Teachers subscription (Oustaz and Imams)

For worshippers, the directory is at no cost. For an Oustaz or an Imam, having their profile in the directory is paid, by Guides and Teachers subscription. It applies from the opening of the Guides and Teachers service, announced in the app and on yoonujamm.app/pro.

15. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in "My account". It is erased 7 days later; reopening the directory on the same phone during that time cancels the deletion. If you no longer have your phone, write to [email protected] with the deletion code shown in "My account".

16. Changes

These terms carry a version number. Any change will be dated on this page, and a significant change will be pointed out to you in the app. The version you accepted and its date appear in "My account".

17. Governing law, jurisdiction and contact

These terms are governed by Senegalese law, in particular Law no. 2008-12 of 25 January 2008 on the protection of personal data and the Code of Civil and Commercial Obligations, without depriving you of the mandatory protection granted by the law of your country of residence. Before any action, write to us: we will seek an amicable solution within 30 days. Failing that, any dispute falls within the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Dakar (Senegal), unless the law of your country of residence allows you to bring it before its own courts. For any question, urgent report or complaint: [email protected].

Version 3 of 16 October 2026. The text bears the name of Yoonu Jàngale since 16 October 2026, with no change of substance.
